A friend of mine mentioned “Good Girl Moonshine” on facebook and I had never heard of that before. Honestly, my first thought was, “Give me the real stuff, I want bad girl moonshine!”
But, I was intrigued so I looked it up. I found this recipe, and when I saw that it was made with apple cider vinegar I thought “Gross!” Then it occurred to me how I have fantasized about drinking my homemade salad dressing straight.
*Original Recipe from Trim Healthy Mama
For the original “base” recipe. you will need:
- Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with “Mother” This stuff is cheap at Amazon
- Pure Stevia Extract Powder By Kal (3.5×2)
- Simply Organic Ginger Root Ground Certified Organic, 1.64-Ounce Container
I gave the recipe a try using seltzer water with my Sodastream. I am in LOVE with my Sodastream. Last year I was doing a bible study and decided to donate a few items that I really LOVED and didn’t want to part with. I donated the Sodastream. I held out for about 6 months until I caved and had to get another. I hope whoever got my old one loves it as much as I do!
Anyway, I made the drink and it was DELICIOUS, but I’m always trying to improve things to make them EVEN better.
I added the following 3 ingredients.
- Turmeric (read why turmeric should be a regular addition to your recipes)
- Cayenne Pepper (I put cayenne in everything and it’s SUPER good for you)
- Cinnamon (also a fantastic way to boost nutritional value)
The cinnamon with the ginger, apple cider vinegar and seltzer water makes this taste like a Yankee Candle, in a GOOD WAY!
Not only does it taste amazing, this drink is great for:
- Stabilizing blood sugar levels
- Curbing sugar cravings
- Soothing heartburn and stomach distress
- Aiding digestion
- Boosting heart health
- Increasing circulation
- Fighting inflammation
Look how gorgeous it is! I have a warning and a tip to save your teeth. *Apple cider vinegar can easily eat away at tooth enamel because of the high acid content. Make sure you drink this with a straw and be aware that you are not swishing it around in your mouth!!
This zesty Good Girl Moonshine with a TWIST brightened up my day!
It’s cold with the ice, but has a warming sensation (thanks to the cayenne pepper).
Wouldn’t this Good Girl Moonshine with a Twist look great at your spring and summer parties in these?
Mason Jar Mugs with Handle, Tin Lid and Plastic Straws. 16 Oz. Each. Old Fashion Drinking Glasses – Pack of 4
If you’re feeling crafty and have your own supplies and want to save money, you can make these yourself!
Good Girl Moonshine with a Twist would make a healthy non-alcoholic alternative to hard apple cider in the fall. In fact, I’m already thinking about stocking up on some of these for bonfires!
CASE OF 12 – 16 oz. EZ Cap Beer Bottles – AMBER
This looks awesome! The fact that it’s healthy is just that much better! Thanks for sharing at the #HomeMattersParty! I hope to see you there next Friday with another awesome post! 🙂
MMM! Sounds good. I love the idea of using it to break the soda habit. Many, many, many years ago I was a smoker. I have found quitting soda to be much more difficult than quitting smoking was! I’m thinking that if I collect a few good recipes like this I may be able to break the hold it has on me!
Hi Sarah, It definitely tastes like soda and sooooo much better for you! Thanks for stopping by!
Well, it sure does LOOK good! I’ve never drank anything like that before, but I wouldn’t be opposed to trying it 🙂
Ahh!!I should try this !! I am slowly trying to follow clean eating and have skipped sugar and milk as first step and i am kind of searching for new health drinks as replacement for coffee and tea. I hope this will help me. Thanks for sharing sherri 🙂
How much of each, tumeric, cinnamon and cayenne pepper did you use? I have looked several times and can’t seem to find it. I apologize if I have missed it. Thanks!
Hi Elaine, I just used a few “shakes” of each – I didn’t measure. Sorry! I’d just say “season to taste”.
