There are all manner of reasons why you, as a manager, would be tempted by remote work. While most of the benefits are for your employees, you also get to enjoy increased flexibility, reduced bills, and a more productive workforce.
The trouble is that, even with those benefits, remote work isn’t a breeze to implement. Your immediate efforts here could even lead to lost custom, technical glitches, and a general fallout of your workforce.
That’s terrible news, but there are plenty of ways to go remote without letting it happen. By taking your time to plan, there’s no reason you and your team can’t benefit from day one. And, considering these three c’s beforehand could make that possible.
C # 1 – Cloud Computing
We’re starting this list with the double C that is cloud computing because, honestly, you can’t do anything remotely without this. This platform is, after all, where you can store files, share work, and ultimately ensure that processes still run smoothly. Only with a cloud system in place can your team access the information they need when they need it, and even get completed projects to you promptly where necessary.
Lucky for you, there are now many cloud providers out there. Whether you implement these processes yourself or seek more info about outside companies who can guarantee smooth running for you, there’s no need to delay. Within days, you could have a cloud system up and running that’s fit for any remote purposes you throw at it.
C # 2 – Communicate
Communication is always crucial in the workplace. You know that. But, do you realize that finding news ways to communicate with remote workers is the only way to make this transition successful? Too often, businesses stall over suddenly stained communication outlets when they’re no longer in the same office. And, there isn’t even any need for it!
As with cloud computing, there are now countless programs out there to make remote communications possible and even smooth. Options like Slack encourage collaborative work and even make it possible to create individual chats for different projects, etc. Even free programs like Google Hangouts offer both chat and video capabilities that could see you all remaining as one big happy family. And, that’s sure to help remote processes stick.
C # 3 – Continue
Downtime is never good in business, so continuing without disruption even after remote processes come into play is also vital. On the surface, this means ensuring that any existing client portfolios are handed seamlessly to a remote team. It also means continuing the practices and business focuses that you’ve always implemented within your office, only through remote outlets like video conferencing, group phone calls, and other such technological focuses.
We’d be lying if we said that remote work wasn’t difficult. It can be, especially during those early days. But, by keeping these three crucial considerations in mind, you should find that you can weather the storm and come out on top, after all.
