The side gig economy is booming, and if you want to earn some extra cash, these 9 apps are a quick and easy way to do that. Of course, you can’t make a living with these gigs, but you can boost your income indefinitely or save for a specific purchase. Most of them will put money (or gift cards) in your wallet by doing stuff you’ve been doing anyway. Might as well make it worth your while! If you have a teen with a phone, share these with them so they can pay for their monthly plan with these side gigs.
Love to eat? Who doesn’t?
Try Mobee.
Mobee is an app that gives you missions to answer questions about the restaurant or store. It’s quick and easy, takes about 5 minutes and you’ll be awarded points. Once you have enough points accumulated, you can get gift cards for theaters, iTunes, Whole Foods, and more!
Watch TV and Movie Trailers?
Get paid to park your butt with Perk TV.
Chances are, you watch movies and TV already, so get paid for that downtime. Perk TV will give you points and you can trade them for gift cards to Nike (in case you plan on getting off your butt at some point), Chipotle, CVS, or cash. There have been reports of this app crashing while you’re watching, so beware you may have some issues with this as well.
Are you a sucker for music videos?
Download AppTrailers.
My daughter needs this one – if she could watch Taylor and get paid, she may get her college paid for! Get points that you can redeem for cash (or iTunes, Amazon, and Starbucks gift cards) simply by watching music videos and movie trailers. I’m seriously thinking this will pay off for her, but I don’t think you can filter what you watch, so, on second thought…
Ingenious with Instagram?
You’ve got to check out LIKEtoKNOW.it.
Apply to be an influencer with Reward Style (the parent co of LIKEtoKNOW.it) and if you are accepted, you’re good to go. If you get rejected, try, try again because you can keep applying as the quality of your social media accounts improve. You get paid by tagging brands in your post and adding the hashtag #LIKEtoKNOWit. If people buy what you’ve posted, you get a commission! Free money!
Is your shelf of books begging to be shared?
Check out BookScouter.
Almost everyone has some books they no longer need. From novels to textbooks, BookScouter will buy your books! It’s so easy to enter each ISBN number and check and see what your books are going for. Whichever book buying site is offering the most, select it and they’ll send you a prepaid shipping label. And cash. Forget garage sales, this is a no-brainer.
Are you a shopaholic?
Turn those shopping trips into gift cards with Perk.
Download Perk (not to be confused with PerkTV), and check-in at stores as you’re out shopping. Check-ins get you points. Then turn those points into cash and gift cards. You don’t even need to buy anything! You could get a ton of points in an afternoon at the mall or shopping plaza.
Have some extra time to kill?
Take a survey at Swagbucks.
Swagbucks is so easy and you can earn a lot of points to trade in for gift cards. Each survey only lasts a few minutes and you can take as many as you want. Gift cards to Amazon are practically like cash – you can buy almost anything.
Take a lot of pictures with your iPhone?
Take a gander at Foap or Snapwire.
Some people (raising hand) can’t take a good iPhone picture to save their life. Others are great at getting great shots. If you fall into the second category, why not earn some cash with those beautiful pics? With these two apps, you can sell your photos, or, enter challenges from brands and compete for prizes. We’re not talking pennies here. You can make up to $500 for a winning photo.
Always up for spur of the moment road trips?
Let Roadie ride shotgun.
If you want to drive to new places but don’t want to fork over gas money, Roadie is your ticket to freedom from the pump prices. Sign up to be a driver and get notifications of people who need you to haul their stuff. Sometimes, it’s just a few miles (and may require a truck). Other times, people are looking for an eager driver to cart something simple across the country for them. When you are approved as a driver, you can view all gigs across the US and what the requirements and payouts are. You can even deliver pets!
Shop for Groceries? Get $17.00 RIGHT NOW:
If you buy groceries, (um, hello, everyone!) then Checkout 51 is a winner for earning cash back on food.
If you’re like me, a large portion of your monthly budget goes towards groceries. Even if you’re not into couponing, Checkout 51 will earn you cash back on a variety of items you’d purchase in a normal shopping trip. The amount you’ll get back range from 25 cents to $2.00, and sometimes there are bonus opportunities to earn more points. New offers arrive every Thursday, so each week there’s something new to get money back from. I’ve made over $84.00 since installing the app.
You can also pair Checkout 51 with Ibotta (use this link for a $10 bonus!), Fetch Rewards (enter referral code P4EDD for $2.00 bonus!), and Dosh (use this link for a $5.00 bonus!). I’ve received over $40 cash in one grocery shopping trip using these 4 grocery apps!
An easy peasy solution to coupon clipping, however, you can combine with coupons for even more savings!
A few other apps I use for grocery shopping can be found in this article.
Have you made extra cash with apps? Let me know which ones I’ve missed, or, comment on how much you make with these side gig apps! Feel free to share this article with someone who may benefit from these easy money-making gigs.
I also use Shopkicks. Which earns points for gift cards just for walking in the store or scanning items as well as points for certain purchases.
Another is Receipt Hog. Take pictures of your receipts to earn points which translate to Gift Cards.
I used to use Shopkicks and I forgot to mention that one! I also use Receipt Hog. 🙂
