We all live in a fast-paced world where it seems like there are more things to do than there are hours in the day to do them. This can leave many of us feeling zapped of energy, which makes it harder for us to get on and do what we need to do each day and it turns into a whole vicious circle that is hard to get back out of.
The good news is, no matter how busy you may be with work or your business or the kids, there are a number of things you can do to supercharge your energy levels starting right now…
- Move more
You might think that moving more when you are already exhausted would just make you even more tired, but the reverse is true. Exercise is actually energizing, so the more of it you can build into your day the better. That is why p[eopel who run yoga classes or who have gotten their cycling certification and exercise all day as part of their job are often the peppiest people you can meet. Do at least one hour in the morning and you will notice a positive difference in how well you feel for the rest of the day.
- Drink more water
One of the main causes of tiredness is dehydration. So many of us drink way less water than we need to get our bodies through the day and the result is often that we feel more exhausted than we should. By simply making an effort to drink a glass of water every hour between 9-5 you can be sure that you will have more energy during the working day, and you will probably notice that you have more mental clarity too.
- De-stress
Stress does not only make us feel jittery and anxious, but it can also cause us to feel extremely fatigued too. Luckily, there are lots of simple things you can do to lower your stress levels from taking a walk in nature to meditation to simply taking a break from the grind and reading a good book or watching a favorite TV show. Try to find some time to relax and de-stress each day and you should soon see your energy levels soaring.
- Try cold therapy
Plunging yourself into a bath of ice cold water or taking a cool shower each morning might not sound like a lot of fun, but if you typically feel fatigued in the morning, despite a good night’s sleep, then cold therapy could help to jolt you awake. More than that, studies have shown that regular immersion in cold water can lower inflammation levels. Boost circulation, and help to energise the body and mind, so give it a try.
If you put all of these energizing ideas into action and you still feel more tired than you think you should, it may be worth seeking the advice of a qualified physician as there may be something else going on with you.
